Erith School is offering an exciting opportunity for boys and girls aged 16 –19 to study and cultivate their talent.

Coach Steven Bucknall, Director of Basketball at London Thunder, Erith Academy and former Head Coach of England u18s Men’s Basketball team, talks about the benefits of studying at Erith Basketball Academy.

Having left England as a teenager for high school in Boston. In 1985 I achieved recognition as a McDonalds All-American (rated as one of the top 20 high school players in the US) and then went on to play at the University of North Carolina under the legendary Coach Dean E Smith. I hold the honour of being the first Englishman to play in the NBA. Over my 16-year professional basketball career I have represented teams in the USA, England, France, Germany, Greece and Italy.

Along with a tailor made academic schedule we are offering players the opportunity to play in the EABL/ABL, the UK’s toughest and most competitive Under 19 basketball competition, we are also able to offer the opportunity to compete for London Thunder Lewisham teams in the National League.

The Coaches at Erith School have fantastic links to Universities in the UK and USA and also links to professional clubs and top academies throughout Europe. If you are keen to explore these opportunities after graduating from the Academy, we would love to help. Academy players will be given the chance to develop their coaching and officiating skills, by undertaking Basketball England qualifications, helping to boost your employability once you have graduated.
