Foot Locker DownTown ThrowDown Final at the 02 – 14th Jan 2016
Tyler Sealy carried the London Thunder mantle all the way to the DownTown Throwdown Final held at the 02 on the NBA Global Games court. He competed against the two other finalists representing Berlin and Madrid in a 3pt shoot out for the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the NBA All Star game in Toronto in February.
The player from Madrid drew to go first and after a shaky start scored 4 baskets. With it all to play for Tyler followed scoring an impressive 7 baskets. Finally the player from Berlin stepped up and a tense audience watched as with his final shot he took the lead and the win scoring 8 baskets.
Tyler got to meet one of his hero’s Muggsy Bogues, the shortest player ever to play in the NBA. Coach Steve has always described him as one of the best defenders he has ever played against. Muggsy gave Tyler some very encouraging feedback and praise and later in the evening Tyler and Josh met up with Muggsy again for a further photo opportunity on court just before tip-off. Tyler described the experience as something he will never forget. He said ‘it was great to meet one of my idols. He was a real inspiration to me when I was younger and shorter and I knew what he had achieved’.
