Game Report U16 Premier: London Thunder vs Baltic Stars 1st October 2017

London Thunder U16 had a deserved win on Sunday afternoon, winning against Baltic Stars 68-50.

Before the start of the game things weren’t in our favour, we didnt have a full squad of players to play the Baltic Stars team that arrived with a good mix of players including some big and strong players. We recorded 9 players on the score sheet and it was enough to bring a good game to the court.

Everything that we planned for the game worked out really well, the players were focused and they made the most of our key strategies to win the game. The first half went well, our players defended hard and avoided giving second shots to the other team, we kept up the intensity on key players from the other team and our full court press gave us a lot of turnovers with some fast breaks that helped to dominate the game.

With an advantage of 14 points going into the second half, we faced a zone defence, our players managed to maintain a strong offensive stance to the zone and controlled the tempo of the game in the last quarter by which time we were leading by 16 points.

“It was a game that was lead by attitude over skill and size, players believed in each other and in the strength of the team all playing together to bring this victory to us”
