U 18 Match Report Saturday 6/10/18 London Thunder v Greenhouse Pioneers

London Thunder 79 v Greenhouse pioneers 62

With the recent loss against Solent the U18 wanted to establish a good start and stay in control and out of foul trouble. Unfortunately TJ got tagged early within the first minute and would sit out most of 1st quarter. It was up to Josh, Ruben, and MO, to go to work establishing a lead. By the second quarter Coach Bucknall was able to rotate the bench and use the rookies, Jordon E, Nage, Harry, Jordan S, all came off the bench and contributed to the halftime score, Thunder remained in control till halftime up by 6points at halftime. Greenhouse came back in 3rd quarter and pressed hard coming within 4 points and managing to break down the set plays. Excellent coaching from Coach Bucknall kept the lead and the bench rotation. Sending a message to the starters to be more creative paid off as the lead was held and Josh U finished the 3rd quarter with a breakaway dunk to finish the 3rd quarter.

Thunder came out in the forth quarter fighting to hold the lead. The set plays were working better now when they worked they worked well and Greenhose had no comeback. The Thunder rotation from the bench would see all players having valuable court time, some of the rookies still need more court confidence and hopefully games like this will provide good court experience for them.

Thunder ended the game 79-62 a real confidence booster. At the start of the season with many teams still to play Thunder are developing the squad and transition play a good win let’s go Thunder.
