U16 Boys Premier – London Lions vs London Thunder – 27/10/18

Thunder visited Lions in Bethnal Green on Saturday, and earned a well deserved win.

After two consecutive League losses, the 9-men team played with good spirit leading for the last 35′, and closing the game in the second half.

Thunder forced turnovers right from the beginning, and the gap after 10′ was not larger than 2 points only because of a number of missed layups and shots from short distance.

In the second quarter, Lions stayed in the game thanks to some great offensive moves by their in-form point guard, but Thunder kept their composure, always reacting, and finishing the first half with a 6 points gap.

After the break, defensive changes on the Thunder side set the game in a different direction.

Lions kept grabbing more rebounds, but struggled to find space and offensive solutions. Thunder added pressure and managed to steal more balls, which helped them get into a better flow in transition, and extend their lead over both quarters to the final 14.

The passing also got better in the second half and several players attacked with the right confidence. Good signs from a team that still has wide margins of improvement.
